École Supérieure d'Art de Lorraine, Metz
The École supérieure d’art de Lorraine – ÉSAL – a public cultural cooperation institution, was established in January 2011 through the merger of the École de l’Image d’Épinal and the École supérieure d’art de Metz Métropole. In January 2014, the EPCC ÉSAL integrated the Cefedem de Lorraine, the Teacher Training Center for Dance and Music, now forming the music and dance division of ÉSAL. The ÉSAL Metz campus is organized around workshops, laboratories, and research centers focusing on interactivity, spatialization, photography, and video. The higher education institution awards national diplomas in Expression Design, Art, and Communication. The institution offers national diplomas: the National Diploma of Art (DNA) with three options: Expression Design, Art, and Communication, all three qualifying for a Bachelor’s degree; and the National Superior Diploma of Plastic Expression (DNSEP) with options in Art and Communication, both diplomas qualifying for a Master’s degree. The music and dance division awards a State Diploma (DE), one in music and one in dance.
